The first female conductor to sign an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon in its 120th year, Mirga Grazinite-Thila, recognized for her activist energy and artistic insight, brings a fresh artistic perspective to Deutsche Grammophon as its new resident artist. The Lithuanian-born Music Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is the first female conductor to join the Yellow Label in its 120-year history. Milga Grazinite-Tyra was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1986 and graduated from the University of Arts in Graz, where she also studied in Leipzig, Bologna, and Zurich, and was selected as a Gustavo Dudamel Fellow for the 2012-13 season, where she later served as Assistant Conductor. 2 CD set.
